Richard King

Richard King otherwise referred to as a modern day ‘Turner’ on glass is well-known Artist from Birmingham UK who has a masters degree in fine Art from Wolverhampton University and is a part-time art teacher with over 20 years experience.

All his paintings have been created from scenes witnessed and photographed first-hand and then created in his studio using an unusual technique in which he paints in reverse on the opposite side of glass to create mesmerizing landscapes and seascapes. After experimenting with various surfaces his unconventional method was honed to achieve the result he was after. Working on glass creates a softer blend of colour and tone and a stronger contrast allowing him to create the vivid scenes he could not be able to achieve on canvas. 

His adventures and first hand experiences have shown him how we as humans have affected our environment. He hopes to make people aware of these changes by sharing the beauty of our planet which might be lost to future generations. This is an ongoing theme of Richards paintings, his objective is to seek out beautiful places which are under the threat of ecological change. 

Richard is a professional coach and four-star white-water Canoe and Kayak leader with vast experience and many of his expeditions are a result of gruelling treks. In 2014 he was selected for his expertise as a specialist elite to paddle the highest river in the world, the Zanska Gorge, North India, Himalayas. His passion of mountaineering has taken him to epic scenes in Switzerland, Austria, Italy and the French Alps. His climbing and scrambling has taken him to Scotland and Snowdonia, North Wales Crib Goch and Devils Kitchen to name a few.

His sense of adventure provides endless landscapes of breath-taking beauty for him to capture.
