Kimberley Harris
Kimberley is known for her depictions of beautiful meadows and fields as well as derelict and decaying buildings. She successfully encapsulates the mood and atmosphere of these scenes with her strong use of shadows and light.
Her work is instantly recognisable for the emphasis on colour and light which is created using a palette knife and a method of layering and blending to create the perfect tone and texture.
Her signature landscapes focus on the natural beauty of the countryside, portraying how colour and light affect one another at different times of day.
She has said “I have great memories of walking the dog in the months of summer as dusk falls and the sky is a palette of pink hues.”
Surrounded by countryside in Suffolk, where she lives, gives Kimberley her endless inspiration but it all started at a young age when her father, who had a keen interest in impressionist art, took her to a JMW Turner exhibition showing at the Tate Gallery. She thought him to be a genius and claimed she was going to paint just like him one day. So in 2005 Kimberley went on to get her Diploma in Art and Design.
More than 10 years later she was introduced to renowned artist, David Porteous-Butler, who re-ignited her passion for painting and introduced her to oils and the palette knife which are now her primary tools.
Her work is now available in galleries all over the U.K.
