John Horsewell

Essex born John had a passion from art from an early ages, with inspiration from his parents and grandparents who were also professional artists. During his school days John enjoyed experimenting with various forms of media, but quickly realising that oils were most suited to the style of work he had perfected allowing him to convey the light and shadow he desired.

Upon leaving school John entered the world of interior design, continuing to paint in his spare time. He exhibited extensively, first locally and then as his reputation gained weight, across Manchester, Birmingham and London and in 1978 he decided to pursue painting as a full time profession.

John most frequently chooses to depict his own most loved landscapes, from the vistas of Southern Europe to the tranquil shores of Florida, where he enjoys spending time.

Working from his studio on the Essex/Suffolk border, John continues to express his affection for the natural world around him, and sis paintings are executed using both brushes and palette knives, giving them their distinctive texture.
