Colin Brown
After Graduating from Canterbury College of Art, Colin Brown went on to become a freelance Illustrator-visualiser allowing him to work for a rather diverse range of advertising, design and 3D companies in Bath, Bristol, London and greater Europe. During a career spanning 24 years, he had the opportunity to work on many campaigns for many different companies, namely; Hasbro, Mattel, Cadbury’s, Saga, and Corgi Toys where he worked closely with designers, producing visuals and seeing the projects through to their finished stages of illustration. Colin later went on to Illustration for publishing of teaching books, posters, magazines and even The Guinness Book of Records!
Colin is now a full time cityscape artist known for his atmospheric streets scenes of the world with the extraordinary ability to recreate the atmosphere and movement of each scene, capturing a fleeting moment in time and an overall sense of being there.
He is heavily influenced by impressionists and Fauvism and artists like Monet, with their loose strokes of colour and free style of painting. Colin initially concentrates on capturing the light, painting freely making every stroke count and only adding detail when needed to knit the scene together rather than being constrained by the detail. Being a visualiser and illustrator in the past plays a huge role in his painting technique today.
In addition to his live demonstrations and painting workshops, Colin is a commissionable artist so be sure to get on touch if you would like to know more about getting a one-off original piece from this extremely talented artist.
