Born in the North East of England, Mackenzie is now based in Brighton on the South coast. The industrial environment and the people he met during his early years in the North East have always been a source of inspiration to Mackenzie in his art. He has pushed through circumstance and social barriers to achieve an impressive career as an artist.
His unique and distinctive work is exhibited and collected in galleries across the world, from Japan to Australia; the U.S.A. to New Zealand, as well as Europe and the UK. Mackenzie’s art seems to reach out and connect with people from all walks of life irrespective of age, gender, social class or nationality. He sells to individuals and corporate collections and has high profile collectors from the world of sport, music, film, politics and royalty.
In 2012 he was commissioned to produce a piece for HRH Queen Elizabeth II for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, which now stands as part of the Royal Collection.
