Born in Liverpool, Dirty Hans is a self-taught original painter and illustrator with a striking contemporary urban art style. As a child, Hans found that art and painting in particular had a calming effect over his hyperactive tendencies and this has carried on in to adulthood.
Following many traveling experiences, Hans has lived in Antwerp in Belgium for the last few years. Inspiration for his work comes from many places including 1950s culture, movies, comic books and studying contemporary artists. His painting style has also been strongly influenced by artists such as Lichtenstein and Toulouse-Lautrec. After honing his style and technique for many years, Hans has simplified his paintings into the bold and fresh pieces we see today. He paints with acrylics and spray paint on to canvas, producing pop art and renaissance pieces and more recently exploring the new digital art media genre.
“I don’t have the vocabulary to put into words what I want you to feel, see, sense when you see a painting of mine so I try to let my paintings do the talking for me and hope you enjoy them as much as I did painting them.”
